I am so super excited to share these beautiful lanterns with you! Ok, I am always excited to share a new craft, but these ones are so special, because...they glow in the dark!
We recently spent a lot of time talking about what it would be like to sleep under the beautiful Northern Lights, and we thought it would be really special to see them from our beds, so we made these super cute glow-in-the-dark Northern Lights lanterns. You can make your own, it won't take long!
A glass jar
A tiny bit of yellow paint
Black card paper
Start by mixing your blue paint with the PVA glue. We used about 2/3 glue to 1/3 paint.
Paint your glass jar with that mixture. We used a huge paintbrush because the glue can make it quite streaky, but if you are patient you can use a smaller paintbrush!
Let your glue and paint layer dry. Mix together a tiny, tiny bit of yellow paint with lots of glow-in-the-dark paint and start painting swirly lines onto your glass jar. Let it dry completely.
Cut out tiny trees from the black card paper and glue them around the bottom of your jar. You can cut out animal shapes, too, if you like.
Wrap a pipe cleaner around the top of your jar and twist the ends together.
Slide a second pipe cleaner through one side and twist it together. This will be your jar's handle.
Thread your beads onto the pipe cleaner, slide the other end through the loop around the jar and twist it tightly together.
That's it! We added an electric tealight to our jars, this way they look beautiful even while it's still light outside! Make a whole bunch and enjoy the amazing Northern Lights right where you are!
