We are a fairly young family, even though Emi will tell you that she is already 5 years old and two teeth lost, so we are still finding our way when it comes to celebrating holidays and making our own traditions.

Sometimes this involves borrowing traditions that we like, even if they were not our own traditions.
As we are borrowing some traditions this Easter I thought maybe some of you would like to hear our Easter traditions and use them, too.
Of course as well as all these traditions we also have an Easter Egg hunt on Easter Morning.
Learn What Easter Is All About
In the weeks leading up to Easter we read the Bible together and talk about why we celebrate Easter.

Decorate Eggs
We dyed our eggs using natural dyes, (Thank you, Opa Michael!)
but you can decorate eggs with stickers and crayons, too.

Egg Games
My Grandma told us about a game she used to play when she was young: An Egg Throwing Contest!
Everyone would receive one boiled egg and on the count of three everyone would throw their egg as far as possible.
Anyone who threw their egg past a certain point was allowed to eat it and received a new egg to try again.
When my Mother was a child she played a different game. Everyone would throw their egg at someone else’s egg, and the egg that lasted the longest was the winner.
The Easter Bunny
We don’t really believe in the Easter Bunny around here, the little ones know that it is just a story,
but the sweet story of the Bunny School in which Easter Bunnies go to a special Bunny School to learn just exactly how to do the job has become an Easter favourite.

Celebrate the Passover
As some of you might know we still celebrate all Jewish holidays.
Passover is a wonderful holiday in which we remember the past, recognize how loved we are and connect with our friends and family in a lovely way.

Passover is not as such an Easter Tradition, of course, but I thought I’d include it in here anyway, as we are celebrating Passover tomorrow.
What are your special Easter Traditions?
Have a wonderful day!
