Passover – Ten Plagues Crafts – Gnats

Passover Crafts at

The third plague: Gnats.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the earth, so that it may become gnats in all the land of Egypt.’” And they did so. Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff and struck the dust of the earth, and there were gnats on man and beast. All the dust of the earth became gnats in all the land of Egypt.

We thought that a jug filled with gnats would be a nice way to show that there were a lot of gnats everywhere in Egypt.

To make your own jug full of gnats you will need:

White card
Brown crayon
Clear contact paper
Poppy seeds

We started by cutting out lots of shapes of a jugs.

We then cut away the inside part of the jug and coloured the remainder of our jugs with the brown crayon. It might be easier for little ones to colour the paper before cutting as it is quite fragile once it has been cut.

Next we cut a square of contact paper and stuck our jug to it.
We then sprinkled poppy seeds into the inside onto the contact paper.

We then sealed the top of the jug with another square of contact paper and cut off the excess contact paper.

That is all you need to do for this easy craft!
Have fun making these!
