I thought I’d show you our Autumn Nature Table. We love having a Nature Table, that little place to keep special things we find on walks and adventures and to help us fully embrace and celebrate the change of the seasons.
I should probably find some time to organise those bookshelves!
On our Nature Table this Autumn we created a sort of backdrop by using some nicely illustrated books.
From right to left the books are Hello, Harvest Moon, Autumn, The Berenstain Bears Count Their Blessings, Autumn Story , and Cub’s First Summer.
This year we are also slowly replacing our lower quality plastic animals with these beautiful, handpainted Schleich wildlife figurines. The truth is that the little ones currently prefer them to the wooden alternative and seeing as they are made of incredibly high quality materials I am okay with that.
Emily has been enjoying looking up the different animals we were sent on the Schleich website as it tells you all sorts of fun little facts about the animal. We don’t own many yet, but I’m really hoping to add a few more animals like the squirrel or fox to our little collection because I think they would be a great Nature Table toy.
We are keeping our wooden animals around, I can’t quite let go of them just yet.
We are still collecting nature things to go on our Nature Table, so far we haven’t been very lucky, but now that the conkers have started to ripen and fall I am sure we will be able to pick up more and more beautiful bits.
For those of you who are interested, here is last year’s Autumn Nature Table.
We decided to move it to the dining room this year to make it part of our Sukkot decorations.
As always our Nature Tables are forever a work in progress, they get changed around daily by little hands, things get taken off or added and I am always so happy to see it fill up with our crafts and found things.
I will be sharing our Autumn reading list with you tomorrow.
Have a lovely day!

That’s lovely! I love the way you used the books as backdrops; that’s a super idea.
Here’s our Nature Shelf – http://simplyburbs.blogspot.com/2012/09/a-nature-shelf-week-4-september-2012.html
Always a work in progress, but invariably the first things the little one’s run for in the morning (“Were the gnomes busy with the Nature Shelf last night, mama?!”)
That’s lovely. We have lots of these nice animals too. the detail is wonderful. I also have a few wooden ones as well. i think i like them more than the kids do though.
