Now that the sun is out more and more every day we love looking for different signs of spring, like flowers slowly appearing, birds singing and, of course, a whole lot of insects, too.
We have been going on bug safaris together using this bug safari kit, as it comes with everything you need to explore what kind of insects live near you. It even comes with a little identification booklet, which Emi has been using a lot.
She loves to catch bugs, look them up, give them a name and then release them again.
While Emi loves bugs, George,Arthur and I are not exactly huge fans,
so the bug safari trips are reserved for just Emily and Anthony to spend time together.
It’s so sweet to see those two wander off for their special Daddy-Daughter time.
She loves looking in all the secret hiding places and picking just the right bug to take home.
She is very gentle and uses a soft brush to help the bugs into the bug observation pot.
When we catch a bug we bring it home to identify it.
We usually add a quick drawing to our Nature Journal, too!
When we are done studying our little friend we bring him back to where we found him,
that way we know that he is happy and safe.
Emi can’t wait to find caterpillars, and she takes her bug catching kit everywhere she goes.
I’m thinking I will need to make a proper bug-catching backpack, what do you think?
Have a wonderful day!

Boar, da hat Emi aber einen großen Käfer gefunden! Respekt! In Berlin müsste ich da wohl Wochen suchen…
