The woman behind Goddess Jewels is June.
It’s lovely to meet you, June. Please tell us about yourself, how did you get to be where you are today?
I got here by mistake, or fate…who knows which? I’m a full-time stay at home mum and home educator (homeschooler) to four beautiful daughters, but I wanted something just for me too. In a box full of bits and pieces that my nan gave to me I found a small pair of pliers that turned out to be jewellery pliers. I put them away at the time, not knowing what they were but thinking they might be useful in the future (I’m a hoarder!) A few years down the line and I bought a charm bracelet on eBay. When it arrived I thought ‘I could do that’…and I taught myself from looking at things I’d bought and occasionally watching an online tutorial.
Who or what inspires you?
The gorgeous Dorset countryside for starters. How could you fail to be inspired by it? Added to that I love folk tales, the changing of the seasons, and my dreams. I’ve dreamt of a piece of jewellery often and had to wake up and quickly jot the details down or run the risk of losing it.
Do you do any other jobs?
I’m a home educating SAHM living in a 16th century (possibly older) house with a large garden…I have my hands full with my family and just trying to prevent my wonderful house from collapsing around my ears. It’s oh so solidly built and I love it dearly, but it’s also a drama queen that likes to fall apart in a minor way on a regular basis! Maintenance is a big thing here! I feel blessed to be its custodian though, it has stood here for so many hundreds of years and seen so much.
What are your wishes for the future of your business?
To grow, of course, but not to get so big that I can’t provide the personal touch for my customers. I love to sort through my stash of charms and beads to find just the right thing for someone.
What is your favourite product from your shop?
It has to be the rainbow bracelet that I’m offering as a prize. It’s one of my oldest designs and it’s quite simple, but it remains popular and is always fun to make. It makes me smile. I enjoy jewellery competition entries too though, which give me the opportunity to be a bit more flamboyant and dramatic.
Has your work had an impact (positive or negative) on your family life or the choices you make?
It’s very positive in that I have an excuse to make time for being creative, I think I need that creativity to stay happy! And being happy can only make me a better mum, wife and friend.
Thank you, June!

My favorite colour in the rainbow is red. There are so many different shades of it. It can be bright and powerful, or calm and comforting. I tend to reach more for the comforting red. The jewelry is beautiful. I landed here completely by accident. I shared this by e-mailing everyone the link.
I shared this in Twitter! Your work is sublime. Green is my favourite colour in your rainbow bracelet, as it reminds me of Cornwall, always green and often raining!
