In our family we love candles. We light candles during our meals, for circle- and storytime, there are usually candles on our Nature Table and when we are writing or drawing.
I think homemade candles are much more beautiful than store-bought candles, so we make our own.
It’s really quite easy and something you can do with children who can be safe with hot water & wax.
Dipped Candles
You will need:
Embroidery floss or any other thick 100% cotton thread (though it’s better to use an actual wick, you can get those in craft stores.)
Beeswax / Wax (We keep leftover wax in a plastic baby bottle we picked up for making candles. It’s a great way to recycle your old, store-bought candles!)

How to:
Fill a saucepan with boiling water and place your bottle of hard wax inside. Wait for the wax to melt.
When all the wax has melted dip your embroidery floss into the bottle.
Remove it , count to five and dip it into the wax again.
Do this about a hundred times.
When you are happy with your candle just hang it up to harden. After a few hours your candle is ready to use.
Beautiful!

Loving the baby bottle idea! That makes it seem safer.
This is awesome! Thank you for such a good idea. Am going to try this with my girls soon.
What a great idea to use the baby bottle! I have been wanting to dip candles with my boys, but didn’t want to have to melt a lot of excess wax. This is a fantastic idea!
Hi we’ve tried this out and it was great fun! I’ve put a link to your tutorial on my blog, hope that’s ok (and obviously tell me if it isn’t!)

I have done this but your way is much safer when trying to do it when children are involved. I too like the baby bottle idea.
