In our home we go through a lot of crayons,
so every few months we buy a big classroom pack of 144 crayons.
Georgie still likes to eat crayons so we melt them down into bigger, chunky crayons which he has never tried to eat.
Luckily these crayons come unwrapped and sorted by colour , so all we have to do is put them into silicone muffin tins,
then melt them in the oven, this only takes about 10 minutes,
(remember to stir them quickly before they cool down!)
and then just let them cool down in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Lovely!
Have a wonderful day!

Cunning! Did you try microwaving them in the end, or did you go straight for the oven?
I put them straight into the oven because that’s what worked for us in the past, but there are videos of microwaved crayons on youtube, so i might just try it next time.
How wonderful…wish we went through crayons at our place. Can’t get my guy to pick up a crayon, marker, pencil, etc. in any form. We’ve tried this before, though. I’m not sure if it was poor quality crayons, but they had a layer of wax on top so without cutting it off, they were useless. I suppose that’s why you stir them, eh? To prevent that layer from forming?
Yes, stirring should get rid of it. It happens when you use washable crayons. Some of ours have the layer, I just run them under hot water for a bit so it all washes away, that seems to work for us
Cool. Thanks!
