toys

Every few weeks we have a look through our home and think about what things we might not need anymore , clothes that no one wears or toys that no one plays with, things that we find are stopping us from spending time doing the things we actually love. Giving those things away to people who need them is not only fun , it also means that our home stays mostly clutter-free and full of the things we love.
We don’t need many things to have fun!

Right now there is an Africa themed book basket, a music basket (with ukulele, rain makers, drums, maracas, harmonicas, music boxes, chinese noisemaker, tambourine & sleigh bells, though we are working on updating it a bit.) & a basket with wooden trees, three toy snakes & a felt lamb made by our friend Miri .
(And, if you can spot him, there’s Maurice the magic monkey. Every day Maurice hides in a new place in our home and the children have so much fun trying to find him!)

We also have the little one’s drawing table with homemade crayons & paper, and puzzles under the table,
and there is our story corner,a rocking chair and a German book basket next to a wonderful log bench which is home to the two dolls Rosie and Georgulia.
Do you have many toys in your home or are you a toy minimalist?
Wishing you a wonderful day!

  1. Brilliant! My son can not cope with the idea of giving a single toy away. And yet he says to me, “I have so many toys, I don’t know which one to play with.” Ugh. As my energy begins to return more and more, I hope to come with creative ways to help him share. I love the themed basket idea! Thanks – as always – for the clever inspiration!! I don’t think it’s Mother’s Day there tomorrow, but an any case, I’m wishing you a beautiful day, Mama!

Ahhh, this is what we strive for at our house, but are failing at miserably. My days are mainly spent moving around the “stuff” which is not what I envisioned. Thanks for the inspiration for a calmer, clutter free home! It is lovely.
