Paper-plate snakes

A simple & quick craft for those rainy autumn days.
(& also very good scissor practice for the kids!)

You will need:

Paper plates,
scissors,
string,
paint or crayons

How to:

Let your little one’s colour & paint the paper plate:

when they are done you can either draw a spiral on the inside for your child to cut out,
or you cut it out for them.

I was surprised at how good my Emily was the first time we did this,
so if you feel it is safe for your little one to use scissors, let them try it.

When you are done just poke a hole through the head of your snake
& hang it up high.
The thicker your snake is, the better it will spin, the thinner you cut it the longer it will be.

We tend to make rather short one’s nowadays, because sweet George is so very close to walking.

Have fun,
& have a lovely day!

I do pretty much this same thing with 1st graders at school, only with construction paper, and we draw shape patterns on it before we cut. I love the little one’s expression!
